FSE

Our Purpose:

Our primary goal is to provide tailored funding solutions and support for ambitious and innovative small and medium enterprises (SMEs), to help them achieve their maximum potential. This includes the provision of fund management services, training and consultancy, and the management of business angel networks.

FSE C.I.C. is an independent not-for-profit Community Interest Company (C.I.C.) whose surpluses are reinvested in the business, rather than being driven by the need to maximise profit for shareholders and owners. FSE C.I.C. has a number of subsidiary companies to deliver its funds and services, which are collectively referred to as The FSE Group. All regulated activities are delivered through FSE Fund Managers Limited, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Finance East Limited delivers funding for businesses based in the East of England region. A full list of companies that fall under FSE C.I.C and their regulators can be found here.

Our Approach:

We pride ourselves in taking a holistic approach to the funding needs of our clients, working with them closely to understand their business and their funding requirements. Whether working with early stage companies to prepare them for investment, sourcing and providing finance from our funds under management or via our business angel networks, or assisting with business development through training and other support, we offer a broad range of expertise to SMEs wanting to grow.

Our Funds, Networks and Services:

Funds managed by us typically lead the investors in their asset class. The FSE Group manages both debt and equity funds and, as a cornerstone investment, ours can act as a key building block to leverage in additional finance. Our social funds are targeted at a diverse range of businesses, organisations and communities. We concentrate on making impact investments, currently focusing on growing social enterprises and community-based renewable energy projects.

In addition to our funds under management we help SMEs secure funding from private investors through our business angel networks and investor clubs, which link growing businesses looking for equity with our pool of active investors.

Our Community of Partners:

We work closely with organisations such as Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs), universities and a selection of Social Enterprise Partners, through the various funds we manage. When working with partners our aim is to help them deliver their goals of assisting and improving the respective communities within which they are operating.
